Magkoutas, Konstantinos
Kostas grew up in Larisa, Greece. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), focusing on turbomachinery and aeronautics. His willingness to expand his professional and scientific horizons led him to attend the Thermal Power MSc program at Cranfield University,UK where he deepened his knowledge in the prenciples of Gas Turbine Technology. During his master thesis he developed a novel tool for design and optimization of complex aero-engine intakes.
He joined the pd|z group to conduct his PhD in the biοmedical field under the umbrella of the ZurichHeart project. His doctorate research is focused on the development and integration of bio-affine pressure sensors that will enable the physiological control of ventricular assist devices through an adaptive control system. He is also interested in the optimzation of rotary blood pumps, aiming to an enchanced hemocompatibilty and hydraulic performance.
His free time is dedicated to outdoor activities with his dog.
