Dual, Seraina
Seraina Dual was born near Zurich, Switzerland. She studied mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich, specialising in biomedical engineering, before going on to complete her final Bachelor’s project on modelling cardiac growth at Stanford University. She went on to do a Master’s in surgical and rehabilitation robotics as she is interested in the interaction between mechanical systems and the human body. This involved an exchange semester and research project at the National University of Singapore. Her research is dedicated to sensory principles which allow the physiological control of heart pumps. Acoustic resonance, ultrasound echography and the electrocardiogram are studied. Recently, an accurate human heart model for ultrasound was manufatured using additive manufacturing and enabling patient specific testing. She is absolutely passionate about dancing the Lindy Hop, playing badminton and getting to know other cultures through travelling.
