Jöhl, Alexander
Alexander grew up in Wil, St. Gallen, Switzerland. He studied mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich, where he developed an interest in dynamic systems and control. During his Bachelor’s degree, he participated in Formula Student as an Academic Motorsports Club Zurich (AMZ) team member, where he became interested in vehicle dynamics. As a result, he did an internship at Bosch Chassis Systems Control in Germany, focusing on vehicle state estimation. For his Master’s thesis, however, he decided to choose something different and went into medical technology. He conducted his Master’s thesis at University Hospital Zurich, collaborating with ETH Zurich on tumor tracking to improve radiation treatment for cancer patients. This is also the topic of his doctoral research at pd|z.
