Hofmann, Urs
Urs was born in Lörrach, Germany. He studied mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich focusing on product development and engineering design. During his master studies he intensively came in contact with additive manufacturing for the first time leading to a semester and master thesis on the selective laser melting process.
After the completion of his master thesis he decided to stay with the pd|z for his doctoral studies. In his research Urs focuses on AM in fluid applications. One specific research topic is the integration of functional surfaces to further enhance the possibilites of the SLM process.
In his spare time he likes to do various sports, for example swimming, road cycling, team sports or skiing. He further is interested in photography.
