Dr. Quentin Lohmeyer
Quentin Lohmeyer is senior scientist and lecturer at ETH Zurich. Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, he studied mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (KIT), where he obtained a diploma degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in 2007 and a doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing.) in 2013.
Quentin has a long-standing experience in research on technological measurement of human behavior, investigating for instance the distribution of visual attention, the coordination of eye and hand movements and the impact of expertise on visual and motor behavior. His research applies novel computational technologies, such as machine learning for contour-near object detection and screen mapping, or mixed reality applications for adaptive guidance and hand action prediction.
In external page Lohmeyer et al. (2019), he presented an AOI-based eye tracking study, whose results led to an improved design of a drug delivery device that is demonstrably safer and easier to use. In external page Lohmeyer et al. (2022), he analyzed the visual attention of critical care nurses on coded and non-coded syringe labels and found evidence that capitalization in drug names shifts visual attention and thus helps distinguishing drugs with similar names.
