Maarten Hogenkamp
Originally from the Netherlands, Maarten grew up in the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master's degree in Robotics, Systems, and Control from ETH Zurich. Maarten first joined PDZ during his master’s thesis, where he developed a method for tracking surgical tools and bones using RGB cameras and inertial measurement units (IMUs). His current research focuses on facilitating the adoption of robotics in the medical field by combining affordable sensors with scalable and robust software design. Specifically, Maarten is interested in concepts from computer vision, state estimation, and machine learning. Outside of work, he enjoys endurance sports, photography, and skiing.
