Stauffer, Tobias

Tobias grew up in the Canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. He received his bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering at the ETH Zurich. He joined the team for his master thesis where he implemented a deep learning pipeline to determine tool poses during surgery.
With his research, Tobias aims to make invasive medical interventions safer and thus improve the outcome for patients. To this end, he is investigating ways to digitally enhance surgical training in order to optimally prepare surgeons for their daily challenges. Furthermore, he is researching on applications which will assist physicians during invasive interventions and help to avoid errors. Thereby he integrates new technologies from the field of augmented reality, machine learning and computer vision into the applications.
