Automated design for Additive Manufacturing

Our latest publication highlights how modern design tools can enable novice designers to generate complex additively manufactured hydraulic manifolds.

Automated design of additively manufactured hydraulic manifolds

Designing parts for additive manufacturing can be a lot of effort. Especially for complex parts, novice designers may need several loops to analyze and modify CAD features for manufacturability.

Therefore, it is desirable to automate the manual CAD process for AM parts, including the consideration of manufacturing restrictions.
For this purpose, our latest research work describes automated CAD procedures that enable novice designers to quickly generate production-ready 3D part geometries for prototypes, tests, and simulations. We focus on the AM overhang constraint and demonstrate the approach for flow components such as hydraulic manifolds.
