Late Afternoon Talk: "Agile Entwicklung jenseits von Software"

In Zühlke's Late Afternoon Talk on June 16th 2021, Prof. Mirko Meboldt presented how much agility is possible in hardware development.

Agile development is a promising approach for projects to becoming faster and more successful. While it has already proven its effectiveness as a new standard in software development, Agile is becoming increasingly effectve in mechanical engineering since software is an essential part of machines. The obvious step is to extend Agile development to hardware. But hardware development in mechanical engineering is fundamentally different from software development due to key challenges such as production lead time, wear, fatigue, corrosion, material behaviour, manufacturing costs and tolerances, which are not an issue in software development. This raises the question of how much agility is possible in hardware development. In this Late afternoon talk, Prof. Meboldt gave insigts on how these issues can be overcome to make successful use of Agile in product development.
