HMZ Award - PhD team challenge
A Team of Julian Wolf, pd|z doctoral student at ETH Zurich together with Florentin Liebman and Marco von Atzigen from the University of Zurich/Balgrist have received the «HMZ Award - The PhD team challenge» honoring the team of PhD students of UZH and ETH working together towards a scientific goal.
The explicit focus of the HMZ-Award is on the quality and originality of the collaboration. The award is intended to encourage collaborations across institutions, even if the chances of success are not immediately foreseeable.
The team's work was focused on developing a solution to improve spinal surgery in which they are relying on computer algorithms and augmented reality. These technologies could help, for example, surgeons to perform the complex steps during surgery more precisely in the futur and thereby reduce the risc of injury to the nerves.
The "HMZ Award - The PhD team challenge" honors interdisciplinary project work by PhD students from ETH and the University of Zurich. The award is intended to promote collaboration across institutions.
