Development of an adjustable hydraulic damper for vibration testing
In collaboration with the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the p|dz and inspire have developed an AM adjustable hydraulic damper. The recently published journal article describes the development process in detail and shows the testing results of the three damper iterations.
Traditional dampers often fall short of meeting the diverse demands of vibration testing. This publication introduces a compact, adjustable hydraulic damper designed to address these limitations. By harnessing the power of additive manufacturing (AM), the team achieved an integral and compact system.
The publication describes three developmental stages, from concept to a fully functional hydraulic damper manufactured using laser powder bed fusion of metal (PBF-LB/M). Rigorous testing confirms its exceptional damping performance under various conditions, making it a reliable choice even under high loads.
